Reasons I have a twitter account [11 Sep 2008|07:31pm]

To get random things out of my brain like the following 4 things:

1) Hot skewers in my eyes! Hot skewers in my eyes! This is what I feel like when I'm doing audio editing. I'm TERRIBLE at it (even though it doesn't say that on my resume... ha?) and it's so so tedious and boring and brutal. Luckily, I got paid today for my freelancing gig, but paypal now thinks I'm smuggling drugs or something... they put a hold on my account. Argh.

2) My nephew started JK yesterday and threw a rock at a kid.... APPARENTLY (according to my nephew) the kid told him to throw the rock up in the air, and it just fell on him. If this is true, the kid had what was coming to him.

My sister is all peace and love -and is now freaking out because her son is violent... I can just picture her thought process: "How can this be? I don't even let him have toy guns or swords". I really should just give her the complete set of Malcolm in the Middle and tell her to go on valium for the next 18 years.

3) Got Cake from Sephora. Silly thing takes forever to open and I had a little "incident" with it. But look isn't it pretty?!

4) R. went on a pickling frenzy and made pickled eggs, I'm weirdly obsessed and disgusted by them. This was the conversation we had today:
R: Did you try one of my pickled eggs?
F: No, I can't bring myself to try one.
R: Here, try a bite!
F: Ew no. Maybe later.
R: It's just like a pickle and an egg together. Would you eat a pickle and an egg.
F: Just a pickle and an egg? No...

When would you ever just have just a pickle and an egg together? I am going to muster up the strength to try one... tomorrow.

Weekend [07 Sep 2008|12:39am]

Whenever people ask me what I've been up to over the summer, I'm caught off guard... mainly because I'm still in shock that the summer is over. My response is typically something along the lines of: "Nothing much" and then I feel guilty, because it reminds me that I haven't really taken advantage of the time I've been given.

I'm probably being unfairly hard on myself. I've gone white water rafting, camping, sleeping!, cottaging, filming, editing, working, writing... although mostly those last four. I know that it was necessary, and this summer hasn't been notable, but (out of obligation) school had a lot to do with this.

Things I wish I had done:
Spent more time with family & friends
Spent less time worrying
Finished building my website
etc.

The odd weather bode well for the tomatoes, peppers and basil on the inside enclosure of our "greenhouse" and it was cute how R would go out and give the plants pep talks. They got too big for themselves, and would tip over, requiring additional support in the way of sticks and ropes. And we went to many different lengths to prop them up. Cliche, but the plants served as a good analogy for the summer. Some of them thrived and bore fruit, while others seemed to shrivel despite our best efforts.

A good Saturday started with breakfast at Eggspectations with friends (& excitement about Al moving to Toronto!) followed by shopping -where, incidentally we saw this book at Urban Outfitters.

Home for laundry, sleep, chili and The Dog Whiiiiisperer.

I guess this is life without school... I'm ok with it.

Power to the... prisoner? [28 Aug 2008|08:10pm]

This man was wearing what looked like a hand-made shirt saying "Conrad Black for Prime Minister" on the College streetcar today. I took a picture using my cameraphone, then after it clicked (loudly) I held the camera close to me, smiling, as if I had just found a treasure.

I'm in that woozy state that, I guess, is natural after my fourth all-nighter in a month.

But whatever, it's handed in. I'm done with it.

My sister gave birth to a 10 pound baby on Monday. Same birthday as Jeff Tweedy. The kid is cool ALREADY.

Effing school, effing fruit flies. [20 Aug 2008|02:40am]

This was taken back in April. That seems like forever ago. Tonight will be my third all-nighter in a month. A MONTH. This blows. Never again will I ever go back to school to be a student. NEVER again, I say.

My boyfriend is cute. I miss him. He's asleep in the other room, all tuckered and adorable. I wish I could go and kiss him but I'd probably wake him up. He also likes the techno chicken video. I wish I could give him a techno chicken. That would be hilarious and great. A real, live, techno chicken. Oh gosh.

The house is infested with fruit flies. And killing them is the only thing that is really keeping me going at this point. Well that, and WAKEUPS! Gotta love those little pink pills.

I'm OK. Really.
